Das Good but not underrated.

Drama in horror are both authentic and emotion. Sometimes we get bad ones and sometimes we get very good ones. I think this is nothing like A QUIET PLACE DAY ONE it's normally for younger horror audiences. Das film is not for younger audiences at all. Des Teufels Bad the location was set in the 18th century is about this wife Agnes that did not like her husband Wolf that much. Wolf's mother thinks that she's a disgraced to the village. Das cinematography widely shot well, there was a good amounts of pratical effects and disturbing scenes of humans after decapitated, one chicken was murdered and two goats have to be murdered as well because they're covered in maggots and very ill. She allegedly had the devils bath which is when she tries to poisoned herself with powdered rat poisoned, then she stole a child from the woods, after she committed a first degree murder from a elementary school boy. When someone committed a crime, you would think that this would be a life time sentence without parole, back then decapitated/death penalty was only law they have and all of the village community folks are Christian so that's why the end of this movie did not like Agnes's of being a disgraced person. I must say that was intense in the second half of what was going on to Agnes body, das third act is when she committed a crime and allowing her to be done with her life and no second chances. Good watch and did made me intense.

"Des Teufels Bad" Wins Silver Bear at Berlinale: A Dark Dive into 18th-Century Depression

Des Teufels Bad, directed by Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, offers a haunting glimpse into 18th-century depression, focusing on the desperate measures women took to escape their suffering. The film, recognized at the Berlinale with a Silver Bear for Martin Gschlacht's exceptional cinematography, delves deep into the theme of "indirect suicide" where individuals, to avoid the stigma of suicide, would commit crimes hoping for execution. Set against the backdrop of a rigidly Catholic Upper Austria, it portrays the protagonist Agnes's struggle with depression and societal constraints, leading her to a drastic decision. The narrative, rooted in historical court records, exposes the harsh realities of the time, making a compelling statement on the enduring nature of human despair and societal expectations. Anja Plaschg's portrayal of Agnes adds depth to this vivid historical tapestry, making Des Teufels Bad a powerful exploration of a dark chapter in European history.
